A badly damaged room at E. P. Collier school following the outbreak of fire

A serious outbreak of fire at E.P. Collier School on Swansea Road took Reading Fire Brigade two hours to bring under control. No one was reported as injured but the damage was extensive, particularly in the boiler house where it was thought to have started.

This photograph was published in the Berkshire Chronicle on 18 March 1938.
