Gracie Fields made an appearance in Maidenhead, whilst filming for 'Keep Smiling'.
Gracie Fields was an English actress, singer and comedienne. In 1938 she was filming for a comedy film directed by Monty Banks called 'Keep Smiling' about a group of perfomers, who after conned out of a large sum of money by an ex-manager, club together to buy a bus and travel around the country putting on shows. Some of the filming took place in Berkshire, so during this period Gracie Fields made many public appearances in the area.
