Builders working on the roof of the Nuffield Block at the Royal Berkshire Hospital
The new Nuffield Block built as part of the Royal Berkshire Hospital's Centenary Appeal launched in 1937. It was funded by a £30,000 donation from Lord Nuffield (founder of Morris motor cars in Oxford). The new block contained four wards for children, maternity and women's surgical cases. The wing opened on 4 June 1939.
This photograph was taken for the Berkshire Chronicle but was not published.
