Auditions were held at the Palace Theatre in Cheapside for an amateur talent show contest, sponsored by the Berkshire Chronicle. The actual contest was hosted by Tommy Handley, the BBC Comedian and the eventual winner was Miss Elisa Crayford for her xylophone and tap-skipping recital.
This photograph was published in the Berkshire Chronicle on the 10 June 1938.
