Reading Co-operative Society's £25,000 warehouse in Grovelands Road was opened by Alderman A. Lovell, of the Board of Management. The buildings adjoined the existing Co-op bakery and held stock to the apporoximate value of £15,000. The space was used to build staff rooms, a room to store matches and a fruit washing machine. The large loading bays were divided into sections so that each of the different branches of the Society, had it's own loading bay.

This photograph was published in the Berkshire Chronicle on 25 March 1938.
