This carved wooden staff or walking stick is from India. It has a label which reads ‘Brought to England by R. F. Hull in 1900. Indian.’ Unfortunately, nothing is currently known about 'R. F. Hull' and how they were connected with Reading and India.
The staff has a bulbous end and incised line decoration, which suggests it may have been used as a ceremonial item rather than a practical walking stick.
