Suttons' Preparation of the Seed Bed at Elm Park, Reading

The preparation of a tilth for the sowing of the renovating mixture of seeds. The ground simulataneously is being dressed with fertiliser to aid in the regrowth.

Elm Park football pitch was renovated following the last game of the season in 1938. The work was undertaken by Messrs Sutton and Sons Ltd, Reading's famous seed merchants.

This photograph was published in the Berkshire Chronicle on 20 May 1938.
